"Made for the BBC, The Village is a continuing period drama series starring John Simm (Doctor Who, Life on Mars) and Maxine Peake (Silk) as characters in the life and turbulent times of one English village across the whole of the 20th century. It's now 1923 and the village moves away from the horrors of war and into the Roaring Twenties: boom and bust, the Charleston and the Black Bottom, new ways of thinking about love, sex and politics, the decline of the aristocracy and the rise of the middle class. Bert is now old enough to understand and experience all of these great and omnious transitions. The outside world comes to the village, bringing with it the big drama that change always generates - and putting the very existence of the village under threat."--Container.
